A Snapshot
It’s a cool clear morning here at my semi-country abode. I say semi because the big trucks whine down the highway on one side. I say country because the heifers and their calves are standing in the pasture on the other side watching the house. One of the calves is eating at his mother's buffet. I went out to say hello, and they just stood there, looking. We’ve always had the cows and the calves, but the highway sound has grown over the years. Maybe they’ll put in a by-pass because civilization is noisy.
I noticed one of the Lacy Oaks is going to mast, the tree is full of acorns and the ground is starting to get covered. I think I should rake them up and spread them about the county. We need more Lacy Oaks. Or, I could drop them in the park next door, although the National Park frowns on people planting things on their grounds. This is when squirrels come in handy, but the local squirrels prefer pecans which explains why I have random pecan trees sprouting in my various flower beds.
But enough about nuts, trucks, and cows. None of them are going anywhere. They’re all a part of my current cycle of life, and that’s good. And now I’m looking for a way to wrap this up, which is when I typically try to say something pithy and maybe worthwhile. But some days a dollar some days a dime, and if you’re looking for something to take to the bank, today is probably not the day. Sorry. I’ll try to say something worthwhile tomorrow.
