Borderless
I’m still popular in China, although I have no idea why. I probably could do something about it, but what would be the point. So, far they mostly appear to be reading my blog. I’ve detected no attempts to hack the site, although maybe it’s already done and these hits are simply a means for covering their tracks. If they’re bots, they sure are taking their time, which would seem to defeat the purpose of a bot and why so many. And what are they doing with the data?
It’s fun to think I’m somehow feeding a Chinese AI model, but I’m pretty sure one of those could scrape the entire site in a manner of minutes. Isn’t that why they’re building those big server farms? Lots of computers crunching data faster than a human can type or think. But it’s also fun to think my writing DNA is making its way into their system, and I wonder how the Chinese feel about a western writer hanging out with Confucius.
And now that I think about it, that’s an intriguing thing about AI, they’re trying to scrape all the data in the world to make their models better and while they’re doing it, they’re getting all the thoughts that went into creating that data which includes everything, from tinpot dictators to great philosophers and people like me from every corner of the world. That’s an intellectual stew. And may I now introduce you to the truly borderless world of AI.
