There’s more fog this morning which means there’s a heavy dew. So, it’s wet to walk in the grass. Out in the pasture as the sunlight first hit the field I thought I was seeing a patch of rain lilies mixed in with the dry grass and field flowers, but they turned out to be spiderwebs, spun in the tall grass, collecting water out of the air, and making themselves known to their intended victims.
More proof, if you needed it, that the world is a dangerous place, and there’s always someone ready to eat you. So, despite appearances, the pasture is far from a gentle place. Even the cows and calves walking the fence line and nibbling on grapevines have dire ends in store for them. They just don’t know it. But then again, neither do the bugs flying into the webs. They all just live as best they can until someone’s dinner bell rings and they’re it.
