Simple Things
The rain continues to fall, and my little gauge is now up to an inch and a half. When the sun comes up, I think I’m going to take a drive and see how the creeks are running. Although, slow and steady rains after months of dry days usually get soaked up by the parched ground. The gauges on my local river indicate an elevated flow, however, so I’m cautiously optimistic about the creeks.
From a gardening perspective the rain and cool weather is working in my favor. The plants I dug up and transplanted all seem to be thriving, especially the ones I put in pots. With the ground all wet, I may even decide to give some of them a more permanent home. Although, pot life gives them more of a chance to develop a good root structure before finding new ground. So, maybe I should practice patience, which is hard to do even when necessary and obvious.
My homemaking project is entering its final phases. The big painting is done. I have some baseboard touch-ups to do, but that’s about it. Now it’s curtain, furniture, and picture time. Those are mostly fun items. I’m at an age where I need help lugging furniture around, although sometimes I tortoise it which means I push it along until I get it where I want it to go. Not real manly on the surface, but it works. And that’s it for now, thanks for your patience and quiet attendance.
