Songwriter
If you don’t have a songwriter, you should get one. Preferable one whose music speaks to you in magical ways that only you can divine. One whose songs you want to sing when they’re sung to you. We saw a show last night in Marathon with a songwriter whose songs spoke to his audience. He sang; they sang. It was fun. And it made for a lovely evening.
I was unfamiliar with the music of the artist on stage, because it’s a big world and life comes at you fast, but now that I’ve heard it and felt the love of his fans, I’ll give it a go and try to see what’s up. Of course, a lot of music has to find its place in your soul because you have a place that needs filling. But it’s still possible to appreciate artistry and talent and welcome new music into your library.
There’s more music today and with luck I’ll hear songs that make me want to hear more. That’s the fun of festivals, especially small ones where you’re up close and personal with the artist, discovery. And there’s no telling what holes in my heart a new song might fill. Because sometimes you don’t even know you have a hole until a song comes along and slips right in and makes itself at home. And then you think, so that’s how I manage that ache.
