A Little Thing
It’s interesting to see what people watch. I’ve been posting short video reels recently on Facebook, to help build my audience prior to the spring release of my new book. The reel shot behind the scenes of Mount Rushmore has been watched for more than seven hours. That’s a fifteen second reel. I guess it’s something not many people have seen. Not viral but interesting. And Gatewood Press has gained followers.
The business-person part of me would like to figure out how to replicate that, because readers and followers might become buyers of my book, and that would be a good thing. Although, I’ll publish the book no matter what, and be happy with what I get, but still I have a bit of that ingrained American desire for success. Luckily, my self-esteem is no longer tied up in the equation. I live a decent life, have good friends, and my kids still talk to me. So, winner winner chicken dinner.
I suppose searching for the video key is like doing a good puzzle of the sort I do every morning to keep my brain fresh, a little mini puzzle from the New York Times, and thing called Spelling Bee. Ultimately, most likely the video thing will end up being something like a hobby that I do for my own gratification, which is a good outcome. It will satisfy my creative urge and maybe add a little joy to someone’s life along the way. Sort of like this blog.
