More Mysteries

Ah, the mysteries of life. One day your hdmi cable works. The next day it doesn’t. Is it the port on the computer? Or the port on the monitor. Is it the cable? You check the device manager. Nothing. You restart the computer. Nothing. You turn off the computer. Completely. Turn it back on. Voila. Everything works. No one will ever be able to explain why it stopped working, or why it started again It just did. Maybe a little electron got caught going where it shouldn’t. Maybe two instructions got stuck in a digital doorway.

Anyway, I’m back looking at the big screen which is really good for old eyes, or any eyes for that matter. Less work. One day I think today's kids will pay with their vision the same way I paid with my hearing. Too much tiny screen time for them, too much loud music for me. It’s weird how the world comes back and bites you. But it almost always does. You do something, anything and eventually, a price will be paid. Recovery times lag. Calories build up. And one day you’re sitting in a chair. Sore.

I’m whining a little bit. My back hurts. Got a great massage yesterday that eased the pain a lot. But now the injury, whatever it was, will have to pass. Oh, well. I’ve walked this path before. And I know how it goes. I guess I’m fortunate that it’s mostly transient. One day it’s working, one day it’s not. I’ve got a catalog of movements that cause my back to spasm. I’ll have to rifle through my back pages to see which one it was this time. I think I know, but there’s always a but. Meanwhile, I’ll shuffle through the pain and wish I could get in earlier to see my doctor.
