It rained last night, and now the morning air has a cool wet feel to it. More is promised today. I watched yesterday’s thunderstorms on radar. They were sparse, but I was pleased to see some of them lingering over the local river valleys, promising more water for the lakes downstream. Perhaps this is the start of the wet weather pattern promised by the super El Ninõ.
In other nature news, the garden spider on the east end of the south porch now has two egg sacks, which seems unusually productive. She’s woven quite a web, which is something to see. In the morning the rising sun glistens on its delicate strands moving gently in the breeze, and today she’s busy making repairs to whatever transpired in the evening. Some days she sees me coming and runs, but today she’s busy, so I’m free to stand and watch.
On the ground, the tom cat which used to run when I approached now stands quietly beside mamma cat when the breakfast bell rings as he lets me slide him a bowl of food. He’s still ultra skittish, but the day is drawing near when he’ll get to visit the vet and become a home body. I hope he can find it in his heart to forgive me, but in the end it will be for the best.
