Solving Mysteries
Last night I found myself working until 11 p.m. quite by accident. I have immersed myself in the nuances of Facebook advertising, and it is a thrill ride I can tell you. Plus, my account was hacked and someone else was in the woodshed, which has really made things interesting, and I am still untangling that knot. But I think we’re getting there, and I’m keeping good notes, which was what I was doing until 11 last night.
And while I say Facebook, it’s really Meta with whom I’m dealing. I suspect most of my problems can be traced back to the male tendency to think he knows what he’s doing when in reality he should have gone looking for some YouTube videos to explain what was up. Because to say that the Meta/Facebook interface to advertising is tortuous is to undervalue the word. It’s easy to get lost and, as you might guess. There. Is. No one. With. Whom. You. Can. Speak. It’s AI chat and looping help screens, which made me want to scream. On occasion.
That being said, I’m going to persist, partly because I like a challenge, and it feels good learning things, even it is how to dance with Meta while trying to make a few bucks. You might say, it gives me purpose, and that feels like a good thing to have at any age, but especially this one where the pasture is where most people expect us to be. While I do have quite a few lazy bones in my body, I also like a good tussle, especially the intellectual kind. So, I have girded my metaphorical loins, and I’m ready for action.
