Teamwork
Well, the long trip is over and it was fun. But it’s nice being home in the comfort of one's own bed. I had a long day yesterday. My flight was at 5:30, so I was up at three a.m. to get to the airport on time. But the beauty of early morning travel is the lightness of the crowds. Combine that with a small regional airport and it was smooth sailing. Of course, I flew east to west which meant by 8:30 last night I was exhausted and fell into bed without any qualms.
I already miss the grandkids and their mom and the little cabin by the lake. My son-in-law’s mother was our host. Maine is a lovely state, and it was fun driving its back roads and seeing the sights, hearing the loons at night, and watching the mallards raise their young. The weather mostly cooperated. It was cool the whole trip through, with bits of rain and sun. I can see why people become snowbirds. And I sure liked sleeping with the windows open.
Now I’m left to pick up where I left off. Tending the yard, tending the plants, and tending myself. I fought an achy back through most of the trip that started before I left. But I feel better now thanks to the tender winds of family, a timely massage before I left, and the healing hands of my doctor. It takes a team to keep this machine running and I’m lucky to have a good one close at hand.
