Two Bits

Two, two-inch rains, back-to-back, is a good soaking in anyone’s book. And if I kept detailed stats, I’d be able to comment on just how much rain has fallen this month of May. But my stat keeping is nonexistent. I might note it in this blog, but there’s no other record. So, let me sum it up. Monday and Tuesday were wet, rainy days. My rain tanks are full, and the ground is as soft as butter.

Once upon a time I had a digital rain gauge, and I could download the data. But it failed, and its replacement failed, and another replacement failed, and I didn’t really see the need to invest in a higher end model. So, I went for simplicity. A plastic tube, emptied by hand.  My son fancied it up and got me a model with a red ring that floats. Now I can look out my window and gather my rain info. This week it’s all good news.

And that’s it for now, and if you were looking for something deeper, my apologies. Sometimes the news is simple, and this is all you get. And this is one of those times. Although I might also mention a book came in that I ordered. I picked it up yesterday and bought a companion. I might comment on them later, when I’ve read both. But that’s it for now. I’m off to enjoy a cool morning with my coffee and my cats, and my well blooming gardens.
